[TCV Update 11/30/2020: The title URL no longer links to the intended content.] Worldwide, women provide 71% of care hours and many, without pay. This has dire consequences, including retiring in poverty due to lost wages while caregiving.
The need for caregivers is rising, from 50 million people diagnosed with dementia according to Alzheimer’s Disease International to an estimated 152 billion people in about three decades. With one person diagnosed every three seconds and more than 95% of people with dementia in lower and middle-income countries living at home, we will have a crisis on our hands.
