The Medical Indicators company has released a new disposable thermometer. The Caregiver’s Voice Review tested a twelve-pack of individually wrapped single-use thermometers and compared them to digital-laser and liquid-tube-filled thermometers. NexTemp® Go is remarkably accurate.
These strip thermometers are designed to be placed under the tongue. In 10 seconds, you’ll see a result within 0.5°F.
NexTemp® Go, is the next generation for those of us who’ve placed those flat-tape thermometers with colored bars representing degrees on a sweaty (feverish) forehead.
Medical Indicators’ NexTemp® Go, are hygienic and safe, especially for those with compromised immune systems. They are convenient and portable.
Many of us grew familiar with the digital readings from those (hopefully safe) lasers pointed at our foreheads or temples during the COVID years. However, those had a margin of error due to where the readings were taken. The most accurate are the liquid-filled tube thermometers inserted under the tongue or in the armpit or rectum. (To think these used to be filled with mercury.)
The Caregiver’s Voice Review tested NexTemp® Go against a liquid-filled tube and a digital-laser thermometer. As noted earlier, the digital reading was not as accurate due to the measurement taken at the forehead or temple. The liquid tube and NexTemp® Go, were each placed under the tongue and provided consistent readings.
On a slightly tangential note, I serve as a volunteer disaster responder. Medical Indicators’ NexTemp® Go are ideal for use in shelters near disaster sites. These disposable thermometers provide a measure of safety in preventing the further spread of illnesses that unavoidably occur at shelter sites. Additionally, these thermometers are a convenient way to measure whether an illness is becoming serious enough to warrant medical attention when traveling to other countries.
Manufactured in the USA by Medical Indicators, NexTemp Go is available on Amazon and on the Medical Indicators’ website.
