Yes, those of us over fifty, sixty, or even seventy, earn perqs of aging.
The following were shared by one who knows with one who’s lived long enough to earn these perqs. 😉
Kidnappers are not that
interested in you.
In a hostage situation,
you are likely to be released first.
No one expects you to run
anywhere.
People call at 9 am or 9 am and ask,
‘Did I wake you?’
People no longer view you as a
hypochondriac.
There is nothing left
to learn the hard way.
Things you buy now
won’t wear out.
You can eat
supper at 3 or 4 PM.
You get into heated arguments
about pension plans.
You no longer think of speed limits
as a challenge.
You quit trying to hold
your stomach in no matter who walks into the room.
You sing along
with elevator music.
Your eyes won’t get
much worse.
Your investment in health insurance
is finally beginning to pay off.
Your joints are more accurate meteorologists
than the national weather service.
Finally, your secrets are safe with your friends
because they can’t remember them either.
Thanks John Quick for passing along these perquisites.
Dear Brenda:
Thanks for adding my name to “The Caregiver’s Voice.” You have an excellent News Letter. Though my husband is gone for nearly 12 years, so much of what you write brings back memories of my years of caregiving. Very difficult at the time, but consoling later when you know you had given everything you could to their care. Keep up the EXCELLENT work. Wish I lived closer so that I could attend some of your program presentations. Your kindness when we met is what got me through a difficult situation. Thanks so much.
LaVern
LaVern,
Although, I still have not yet set aside time to call you…thank YOU for reaching out and sharing such an endearing comment.
We will get the opportunity to catch up…hopefully, soon.
Brenda
Pretty funny, especially the one about whatever you buy won’t wear out.
