Claire Abel, The Caregiver’s Voice Caregiver of the Month, has been caring for her 103-year old mother for the past 16 years.
What makes Claire (seated at left with one of her doggies); an inspiring caregiver is her ability to find the joy each day. (Click on photos to see an enlarged pop-up.)
Four generations spend a day together–from one-year old Cici in her mother’s arms … aaaaaallll the way up to great grandma at a Century plus 3.5 years!
This second photo is one example of the spirit of FUN Claire’s family shares with their matriarch. This photo was taken last week when the family got together during the Independence Day holiday and Claire sent it to The Caregiver’s Voice with the following caption:
“She ain’t heavy, she’s our mother!”

Hooray for Claire. Thanks for sharing the pictues. I laughed at the one on the steps as my loved one is not in a wheel chair but I will have to use one in the future to get her up and down the steps at the dentist. She can go up by herself and some help but getting down is where I will need the wheel chair and some help
I hope Marie doesn’t need a wheelchair for a loooong time, Don.
I got choked up, but I had a smile on my face.
