CONGRATULATIONS Juanita Bradley!
You are The Caregiver’s Voice Caregiver of the Month
Without the help of Juanita Bradley, PCA, from Home Instead Senior Care (HISC) of Manassas, Virginia my job would have been almost impossible.
Juanita has been with us since November 5, 2010. During this very difficult time for me, she has stuck by my wife’s and my sides, helping where she can and encouraging me where she can’t.
HISC is a non-medical agency; thus, she can only stand by and encourage me to do the right thing when and where needed. She has accompanied us to visits to the doctor when my daughter could not.
Juanita is here 16 hours a week in spite of having medical issues herself and suffering from the effects of chemo. Juanita has had two kidney transplants and is once again on a donor list. She doesn’t let this discourage her. During the time she has been here, she helps Marie with crossword puzzles and with speech and physical therapy.
She has guided me through Marie’s urinary tract infections and helped me to learn how to prevent Marie’s fecal impaction. Early on, she helped me with a presentation I gave to Home Instead caregivers on Lewy body dementia (LBD). Thanks to Juanita, my daughter and I have learned how to help a person deal with both LBD and Parkinson’s.
I would feel honored if Juanita was recognized for her efforts and support.
Nominated by Donald Mc Cormick
The Caregiver’s Voice Caregiver of the Month of October
I give my heartfelt support to Mr. Mc Cormick’s nomination of Juanita Bradley as Caregiver of the Month.
It has been my honor and pleasure to be her supervisor at Home Instead Senior Care. Throughout the years, Juanita has consistently provided exceptional care for our clients; truly taking to heart the motto, “To us, it’s personal.”
Juanita’s care is extraordinary, especially when one is aware of her personal medical tragedy.
She has been the recipient of 2 kidneys and is presently on the list to receive a kidney from a live donor.
Given that any one of us would probably be immersed in self-pity under such circumstances, it is remarkable that Juanita undergoes painful and nauseating rounds of chemotherapy and her goal is to get to her beloved client, Marie, on time. Such a work ethic is extraordinary and so very rare among a healthy workforce, let alone from an individual literally fighting for her life!
Juanita goes to her client with a smile on her face and then proceeds to provide a secure, calm, reassuring and loving environment for her dear client, who suffers from Lewy body dementia. She has made an enormous difference in the lives of her client and her client’s family.
I have been honored and humbled to have her as a colleague. Any honor that can be bestowed upon this wonderful young woman would be greatly appreciated and richly deserved!

Juanita is one of the best people I have ever met! I see the same sparkle in her eyes when she talks with my mother as when she speaks about her nephew. Juanita definitely has been dealt some hard blows in her life, but she plays her cards well and rolls with the punches.
I would like to see Juanita be able to teach classes to other caregivers. She treats people like people with no judgment.
Juanita would not care if you were pink with purple polka dots, black, white, or orange–she sees the person behind the illness.
She is ready to step up to the plate to help anyone! She is a special and wonderful person. I hope she is able to find the kidney donor that will help her.

Juanita Bradley, TCV’s Caregiver of the Month of December will receive her choice of gift from (click on) The Caregiver’s Voice FAB Five Gifts at PersonCare [TCV Update 7/2/2018: PersonCare website no longer operational.]
UPdate on Juanita, she is better but has missed some days because of the reaction some of the medications cause. I am lost on the days without her.
We need a permanent fix for Juanita’s kidney. This up and down is stressful for her, her family, Marie, and you and all those others who know and love her.
Kathy, we have received the gift’s and thank you very much. Juanita was in the hospital for 4 days and could not answer you I have given her the gift and you should hear from her. Regretfully it appears that the Lewy Body Dementia is getting the best of my Marie. I know that with the help of Sherri my daughter and Juanita, I am going to get through this. Thanks to both of them.
Brenda,
I would love to gift a product of choice to Juanita – even two: one for her, one for Marie. Please let her know and have her contact me and I will send her a gift to celebrate her strength and commitment. She’s an inspiration to us all.

WOW, thank you Kathy. I’ll be sure to let Juanita and Don (for Marie) know.
Again, THANK YOU. Your scarves are terrific and “green” way for loved ones to keep their clothes clean while eating and drinking.
I am extremely happy to see that Juanita has this honor. I can’t not say enough of her dedication and desire’s to help othere despite her own health issues. I only hope that somehow we can find a donor for her. My wife Marie usually smiles when Juanita comes in the door. Only exceptio is when the dementia has kicked in and she doesn’t recognize her at first. Well done Juanita.
Don, thank YOU for nominating Juanita.
The time you took to make sure her selflessness is recognized is a way to honor her.
She seems to be such a special caregiver, I also hope that a donor may step forward soon.
I hope her employer is able to raise awareness of the fight for life by one of their own through their hundreds of franchises. As they say, “To us, it’s personal.”
