The U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) will launch their 10th Anniversary Celebration
The U.S. Administration on Aging is proud to sponsor this year-long celebration to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) and spotlight the important role of family caregivers. AoA looks forward to working in concert with national caregiver organizations and associations and other partners to help recognize and show appreciation for America’s family caregivers.
The AoA will launch the year of celebration on November 17, 2010, with an educational program about caregiving and the NFCSP. The program will be followed by a reception recognizing former Assistant Secretary for Aging Jeanette Takamura for her instrumental role in crafting the Older Americans Act Title III-E amendment that authorized the NFCSP.
Communities nationwide are encouraged to host similar events recognizing the contributions of those who helped build their local caregiver support programs. [The Caregiver’s Voice supports the AoA’s recognition celebration with our monthly Caregiver of the Month program. Ed.]
The 10th anniversary and family caregiver celebrations will also look ahead to the next 10 years of caregiver support. Program coordinators aim to build on the successes of the last ten years in improving the quality of life for millions of caregivers and their loved ones. Anyone who wants to host an event can share it with others across American through the Year of the Family Caregiver Commemorative Calendar.
